Mimio Muse is a multi-platform collaborative networking system for use with the Mimio whiteboard, and is perfect for intensive and creative professional environments. This system offers the synergy of digital collaborative systems such as wikis with the advantages of face to face interaction. The basis of the product consists of automated sorting and online storage of "whiteboard sessions" (meetings, brainstorms etc.) and provides the user with the ability to access sessions on-the-go with the iPhone application or via a computer web browser. Mimio Muse will facilitate an extension of Mimio's market by becoming an important solution to those in collaborative environments outside of educational settings.

Potential for Market Expansion

Mimio’s current market is largely targeted toward educational related institutions, such as elementary schools. With Mimio’s interactive smart boards and Mimio Connect, teaching, learning, and sharing lessons have become easier. We propose to expand the potential of Mimio by bringing it into business offices, creative meetings, or wherever professionals are gathering their ideas. They can save notes and documents from Mimio Muse "sessions" to a website. Through the iPhone application, they can then access and edit the files on-the-go, which are automatically updated and shared with other people from their group. There is a huge market in the professional world where people could use our product everyday to create, share, and collaborate ideas in the office, at home, or on-the-go.

User Narrative

Mimio Muse is a collaborative networking system for use with the Mimio hardware. The essential features of the network are the automated sorting and online storage of "sessions" (instances of Mimio whiteboard use) and the ability to seamlessly access those sessions on-the-go or at home. The "sessions" are available via the Mimio Muse iPhone app as well as on a regular computer through an internet browser

When the iPhone app is launched the user is prompted to enter a login name and password. Once logged in the user has access to all "sessions" that they are part of or have been given access to by other members. The sessions are easily navigable as they are sortable by either “session” name, date of creation, or group members involved.

Once the user chooses a "session" they have several options. First, they see an image of the Mimio whiteboard as it appeared at the end of the “session”. However, the user is not limited to seeing the last state of the whiteboard. The Mimio whiteboard automatically saves screenshots of the whiteboard at 1 minute intervals therefore the user can watch the changes to the whiteboard in the order that they occurred. This provides the user with further insight and clarification into what was discussed during the session.

Sometimes the user will be satisfied to review the information but often times upon reviewing the information the user will be struck with an idea. After reviewing the sessions, If the user wishes to add any information to the Mimio Muse “session”, they can do so with our editing interface. The tools for adding and editing notes that are available to the users include:  

• Layer Tabs- Each user is assigned a layer in which he or she has the sole access. All of the edits are locked to that layer. Everyone within the group has the ability to determine viewing one or many layers by selecting the designated layer tabs. 

• Color Coordination- Each user is assigned a color. All of their notes and edits are automatically in that color which prevents any confusion.

• Markers- With iPhone's touch screen capability, users can circle and underline to customize their documents. 

• Highlighters- Similar to the marker. However, the user’s additions remain behind previous additions to draw attention to them.

• Text Notes - To write notes on the documents, users can create, expand, and place text boxes with iPhone multi-touch capability.

Technical Analysis

The iPhone app is developed with the iPhone SDK.
The online access uses php and MYSQL.
